Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’The King will reply Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’.
MATTHEW 25CM HAS TRANSFORMATIVE POWER
Every believer is under an obligation, the church of Christ is under an obligation, to make this central in their exercise of the faith, and not pay lip service to it, whilst busy with other things, that may be easy to do. No ministry is greater than this. Individuals and churches tend to be inward looking and concern themselves with what goes on inside them and neglect the reaching out that the Gospel is instructing us to do. It is “not a nice-to- do” but a “ must do “ for every Christian believer.
To show our faith by our works
To be a conscience to the body of Christ regarding Matthew 25CM in calling for the alleviation of the pain of poverty and isolation
Loving; Compassionate; Caring; Sharing; Doing
Christ makes it abundantly clear that those who had nothing to do with these classes of people, He will order them to stand on His left, and those who in their walk of faith made them central He will ask to stand on His right hand and the fate of the two kinds of people is also made very clear.
It is for this reason that we have decided to establish an organization whose central focus and task is going to take care of the needs of these six classes of people, under one roof, and the organization will also be named Matthew 25 Christian Ministries (Matthew 25CM), so as to leave no doubt as to what it is all about.
There is a large body of people who can come forward to join this initiative, once it is well- articulated, a way that galvanizes people to come forward and engage.
What is of critical importance is going to be the raising of funds from a number of Foundations around the country and abroad, who may want to invest in this cause.
Jim Wallis in his book On God’s Side, says what religion forgets and politics hasn’t learned about serving the common good, in Chapter 4, tells of a story of a prayer warrior called Mary Glover, who would pray a constant line like:
“Lord, we know you will be coming through this line today; so help us to treat you well.”
As she served food to street people forming a long queue, she knew that Christ could be one of them.
